PMI is partnering with global automation giant ABB. Under the brand of ACOPOS 6D, PMI’s unique magnetic levitation planar motor products are available through the global sales and service network of ABB. The seamless integration of planar motors with ABB’s Machine Automation Division’s (B&R) automation studio will support B&R customers in the transition to highly flexible precision manufacturing in response to the fundamental shift to batch size one production and shorter product lifecycles. The partnership follows ABB’s capital investment for a 20 percent stake in PMI.
“The partnership with ABB will perfectly align with PMI’s mission to serve machine builders, system integrators, and automation end users in the world with unrivaled flexibility, precision and intelligence. It will significantly extend our existing customer base, allowing our XBot® products to reach more customers than ever before. We will continue our success in technology development, product manufacturing, and global customer support”, said Xiaodong Lu, President of Planar Motor Inc.
